Feeling map of Ústí nad Labem in traffic

The city of Ústí nad Labem has published a feeling map that represents the results of the city’s citizens’ evaluation in the field of transport. Tzv. The mobility plan of the city of Ústí nad Labem is designed to effectively solve the problems of transport in the city and help to improve the quality of life in the city.

Mobility and UJEP, where have we gone?

The seminar of the Smart City – Smart Region – Smart Community project, which was mainly devoted to mobility, took place on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. The seminar was attended by representatives of the SMART ITI project team from UJEP and FD CTU, representatives of the region, the city and other experts dealing with the topics of transport and transport behavior.

Hydrogen partnership

The Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation in the Development of Complex Use of Hydrogen as a Clean Energy Source in the Ústí Region was signed by 18 entities on 19 November at the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University.

In companies operating in the Ústí Region, hydrogen is produced which has a great potential for use. Its subsequent processing and distribution as a “clean” energy source is the subject of a memorandum, which represents a unique project within the whole Czech Republic.

How to get to school or work? Carpool!

Do you drive to work or school yourself without someone else driving? Unfortunately, there are a majority of cars carrying only one passenger. A new joint research of UJEP and the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of CTU is coming with an activity to support carpooling. Using the Partnership Foundation’s “Travels Through the Cities” application, it offers the opportunity to better organize joint commuting to work or school for employees of the Municipality of Ústí nad Labem, the Regional Authority of the Ústí Region and UJEP employees and students.

Earthworm on the Terrace and UJEP

Vegetables, barrels with earthworm, herb garden. These were unusual scenery of the meeting that took place on September 11, 2019 in Ústí nad Labem. The topic of the event, organized by Jan Macháč and Marek Hekrle on behalf of UJEP, was the presentation of the benefits of community gardens in Ústí nad Labem with the subtitle “Or the cultivation does not stop there.”

Environmental Analytical Chemistry and Toxicology

This winter, the Master’s program of Environmental Analytical Chemistry and Toxicology was re-accredited, which is crucial for several UJEP Bachelor’s programs. The existence of the field demonstrates effective cooperation between faculties and, moreover, chemistry and chemical education have a long tradition in the Ústí region. UJEP students have the opportunity to shift their education in analytical chemistry to the doctoral level at the University of Ústí nad Labem.

Community garden in Ústí nad Labem

Jan Macháč and Marek Hekrle will attend the informal meeting in the community garden of the Earthworm on the Terrace. It will present its results of the economic evaluation of community gardens in Ústí and the benefits of these gardens not only for the members themselves, but also for the wider surroundings.

The meeting will take place on September 11, 2019 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm directly in the Earthworm Community Garden on the Terrace, in Větrná Street on the North Terrace. Our environmental economists will talk: “What are the benefits of our community garden? Or it does not end in cultivation”.

Partial research results from the SMART CITY – SMART REGION – SMART COMMUNITY project will be presented.

Urban greenery in the hands of students from all over the world

The International Summer School on the Integration of the Concept of Ecosystem Services into Urban Spatial Planning took place at UJEP on 17-21 June. Students from all over the world came to us. They were acquainted with specific methods of mapping and evaluation of ecosystem services.

The Summer School was run by two faculties – the Faculty of Socio-Economic and the Faculty of Science. The aim of all-week activities was to acquaint students with selected methods of mapping and evaluation of ecosystem services and incl. their application in a specific model territory.

Smart mobility – Smart transport

How is the concept of Smart City currently perceived? How to implement car-sharing? How will population transport affect the availability of information and communication technologies? Is there a potential for reducing the total mileage? Answers to these and other questions were sought by participants in the 11th December Workshop at the UJEP Smart City – Smart Region.
