CZECH ENVI THESIS is looking for fighters for nature at Czech universities

The nationwide competition of bachelor’s and master’s theses in the field of the environment, or students for nature, is a basic characteristic of the second year of the Czech Envi Thesis competition, which will take place at the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University. The competition is looking for the best students who, through their final theses, strive for nature protection at Czech universities. The aim of the competition is not only to find successful fighters for nature, but also to bring to light their final work and at the same time popularize them.

The competition is open to those who in 2020 defended (no later than September) their bachelor’s or master’s thesis dealing with the environment from a social science perspective. The competition schedule is as follows:

  • September 2020: last day for submission of applications
  • November 2020: participants will learn about their progress to the finals
  • November 2020: training for finalists will take place in Prague
  • December 2020: final round in Ústí nad Labem

Traditional Academic Writing at UJEP

How to make scientific publications, how to process an idea into an article, how to succeed in a serious journal, what to avoid and how your article will be evaluated… These questions will be answered by a seminar led by two very successful academic colleagues from UJEP Lenka Slavíková and Josef Trögl.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in meeting room 1. 14 MFC UJEP, Pasteurova 1, Ústí nad Labem.

PLPR conference moved from Texas to Usti nad Labem

Our University organizes a conference of the International Academic Association on Planning, Law, and Property Rights (PLPR). The conference starts on Monday, February 17th and the program will run throughout the week with the participation of many distinguished experts from around the world.

Life with floods

Steven Forrest from Holland is going to give us a lecture Life with floods: civil society and flood resistance. Steven is working with UJEP on the Smart City project and is working with colleagues to develop an experiment to explore the flood protection negotiations.
The lecture will take place on Wednesday 27th November from 10:30 at FSE in room MO10.

The importance of greenery and water for quality of life in the city

The Czech-Saxon project BIDELIN hosts a conference that will culminate in the three-year effort of FSE, IEEP and LIOR scientists in the fields of green and blue infrastructure, ecosystem services, climate change and quality of life. The meaning of these terms and experience with their fulfillment will be presented on November 28 at UJEP.

The conference The importance of green and blue infrastructure for the quality of life in cities will take place on November 28, 2019 at the UJEP Multifunctional Center, in the purple auditorium at the university campus.

Eye Tracking: objective data on unconscious reactions

We invite you to a lecture on EYE TRACKING: A METHOD FOR EXAMINING HUMAN BEHAVIOR, which will be held at FSE on November 14 from 9:30 am. The lecture will present the technology but will also focus on its use in science and research and reveal the work with the data it provides.

The lecture will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the University Campus in the MN N2 UJEP room from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

The lecture will be led by Ing. Miroslav Suchý from UX Focus.

Future of Energy Systems on Local and Regional Level

We invite you to a conference co-organized by the Czech-Austrian Expert Group on Energy, which will take place on November 25-26 in Prague and will focus on the future of energy systems at local and regional level.

In Europe, there are a growing number of initiatives to promote the use of renewable energy, which have been produced near their place of consumption. There are an increasing number of cities and regions that want to be energy self-sufficient through Renewable energy sources (RES).

The conference will take place at the following locations in Prague:

  • 25. 11. 2019 from 13:30 from 18:00 at the Austrian Embassy in Prague, Kanovnická 70/4 (Hložků Palace of Žampach), focused on partial aspects of consumption, production and support of renewable resources.

Greenery in the municipality and cities of the Ústí Region

In November 6 – 7 there will be an environmental conference on greenery in cities, which is primarily intended for representatives of cities and municipalities in the Ústí Region and is open to the public. The venue is the Výstaviště Zahrada Čech Litoměřice.

Public greenery is an important element of the living space of the population, which significantly affects the life of the entire population. Its creation and maintenance is not only the task of administrators of public greenery, but of many other fields. The aim of the conference is to draw attention to these contexts.

The conference will be opened by Jan Macháč from the Faculty of Socio-Economic UJEP with a lecture on “Greenery in municipalities as a multifunctional measure in the light of adaptation to climate change”.

The evening program will include the announcement of the nationwide competition PARK OF THE YEAR 2019. The competition is organized by the Association for the Establishment and Maintenance of Greenery –‑soutezi/.
