The commercialization project will be protected by a patent

A new compound for grinding wheels has received a patent. It was created at the Faculty of Environment with the contribution of FSE within the sub-project of commercialization. The patented product will contribute to more efficient machining and several companies have already expressed interest in it.

Commercialization at UJEP is supported by the Technology Transfer CenterCTT, which was established thanks to a joint project of TACR GAMA COMNID together with the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry AS CR and the General University Hospital Prague. Due to the increasing importance of transfer, UJEP is trying to develop this center and firmly anchor it into the University structures.

Environmental Analytical Chemistry and Toxicology

This winter, the Master’s program of Environmental Analytical Chemistry and Toxicology was re-accredited, which is crucial for several UJEP Bachelor’s programs. The existence of the field demonstrates effective cooperation between faculties and, moreover, chemistry and chemical education have a long tradition in the Ústí region. UJEP students have the opportunity to shift their education in analytical chemistry to the doctoral level at the University of Ústí nad Labem.

Ecosystem services course in Dresden this time

In the winter semester of the academic year 2019/2020, a Czech-German selection course for students of UJEP, Hochschule Anhalt in Bernburg and TU Dresden will take place. The course “Identifying and Assessing Ecosystem Services Provided by Urban Green and Blue Infrastructure in Dresden” will move to Dresden, Germany this time.

Innovative science and technology programs for doctoral students

The Faculty of Environment and the Faculty of Science succeeded in re-accreditation of doctoral programs. Both successful programs were authorized to teach this spring for the next 10 years. This was due to activities in the STUVIN project, which is common to the aforementioned UJEP faculties.

Benefits for UJEP and Ústí region

The development of scientific work in nanotechnologies and analytical chemistry has been the subject of many activities for many years, especially the work of scientific teams at the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of the Environment. These activities are continually carried out in the framework of numerous ongoing research projects (the most important to be found here), but they are also part of the important strategic project of MATECH. He is also applying for financial support from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.

The new disciplines will provide support for the further development of nanotechnology and analytical chemistry at our university as part of its strategic goals. Czech Envi Thesis

The Czech Envi Thesis competition aims to raise awareness of solutions to environmental issues from the perspective of the social sciences. The competition is open to authors of bachelor and master theses that were and will be defended by the end of September 2019.

The competition is organized by the Institute for Economic and Ecological Policy at the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. The jury will consist of leading Czech experts across universities and other scientific institutions in the Czech Republic.

Urban greenery in the hands of students from all over the world

The International Summer School on the Integration of the Concept of Ecosystem Services into Urban Spatial Planning took place at UJEP on 17-21 June. Students from all over the world came to us. They were acquainted with specific methods of mapping and evaluation of ecosystem services.

The Summer School was run by two faculties – the Faculty of Socio-Economic and the Faculty of Science. The aim of all-week activities was to acquaint students with selected methods of mapping and evaluation of ecosystem services and incl. their application in a specific model territory.

Visits by foreign experts at UJEP

UJEP has been actively cooperating with foreign companies for a long time. Several foreign experts visited the University of Ústí as part of the STUVIN project. This has been a great asset to the University, as both the staff and students and the public have the opportunity to meet and discuss each other on a variety of topics. At the same time, the experiences that are used in the creation of new fields of study are shared.

During the solution of the STUVIN project, which is coordinated by the Faculty of the Environment, many internships of FŽP and PřF were mediated and very interesting and important guests came to UJEP. We bring you an overview of the most interesting visitors.

Phytotechnology FŽP at an international conference in Poland

MATEQ’s success in phytotechnology research was discussed with experts from across Europe in March at a conference in Poland. FŽP employees and students shared with their colleagues in particular the results of the first three years of solving an international project for the restoration and use of land of former military sites contaminated with heavy metals and conclusions from the first field trials established in the Czech Republic at three locations.
