Diagnostic approaches for lung cancer detection

Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. The high mortality rate and the ability of patients to survive for five years is less than 15% and is due to the fact that 70% of diagnosed lung cancers are at an advanced stage. [1] Department at Faculty of Science UJEP is a part of a project aimed at the development of microfluidic chip (MLC chip), which allows to isolate (quantify) tumor cell populations.

Model cell cultures and nanoparticle systems

Nanotechnology is today one of the fastest growing fields of modern science. Hand in hand with new diverse applications of nanostructures, such as nanoparticles (NPs), which have enormous potential, particularly in biomedicine, are questions about their possible negative impact on living organisms.
